trying to add mail utility to mozilla in sarge

Sarge seemed to install correctly using the net install method, but I can't seem to use apt. I tried to add e-mail to mozilla and got the following:

debian:/home/pxxxxxk# apt-get install mozilla-mailnews
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
The following NEW packages will be installed:
mozilla-mailnews
0 upgraded, 1 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 0B/1854kB of archives.
After unpacking 5874kB of additional disk space will be used.
dpkg: failed in buffer_read(fd): copy info file `/var/lib/dpkg/available': Input/output error
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (2)
debian:/home/pxxxxxk#

input-output error? How? Why?

Thanks...

#apt-get install mozilla

will install mozilla-browser and mozilla-mailnews automatically, i just did.

You probably already have it installed; click on the second icon at the bottom of the page on your left, mozilla-mail will come up and you can configure the mail and news parts.
