trouble with /dev/psaux.

Okay, I'm having a problem with X Windows and my mouse driver. When I try to run the startx script, it'll go for a while then tell me that it can't initialize /dev/psaux and will abort with an error, but when I login as root and do chown levi /dev/psaux then login as normal, I can load X Windows. what's going on and what can I do so I don't have to login as root every morning to fix this?

Read the first part of the thread:
