Translucent Windows

How do I go about installing something like this? |
Looks ok, but I've not seen it done in a real WM. If you want transparency, try http://gentoo-wiki.com/TIP_Xorg_X11_and_Transparency it's a Gentoo forum, but it works for most distros - I'm on Slack- Current & E17 at the mo.

just install the debian package then you will find it in the kde control center -> appearances -> window decoration

If you have 3d hardware acceleration working, then you should use the MUCH cooler OpenGL version: Crystal-GL
In either case, download the Debian version. Then install by logging on in a terminal as root and type in: dpkg -i filename.deb If you have 3d hardware acceleration, the OpenGL version is much faster, consumes fewer CPU cycles, and has an eye-poppingly cool lens effect. It's really slick to move around windows just to see the lens effect as you slide it over your desktop background. |
I was wondering how they make it translucent?
OS control all the image's alpha channel or something else. Thanks. |

aterm -ls -tr -tint grey60 +sb -tinttype true -fg lightblue Just install aterm, and use this command to launch it, I usually put it in my terminal icons command in it's properties. |
You don't even need to do all of that. I looked around after I read this, found the properties of the terminal window, and clicked a radio button allowing transparency. It unghosted a slider to make it transparent, and voila.

Open up Terminal (XChat also works with this, but the menu set-up is slightly different), go to Edit>Profiles, then select Default and click edit. On the screen that comes up, go to the Effects tab and click the radio button with 'Transparent background' next to it. That is all there is to it. Enjoy!

Dope, thanks! :p
