(solved)totem dont start


hi community

i have a problem with starting totem..
the curious about that is after the installation everything worked fine.. sound and video up..

but one day after that, i tried to start totem.. the only thing that poped up at console was:
libhal.c 2282 : Error sending msg: No reply within specified time
It seems that totem is waiting for something ..? not even ctrl +c wont stop totem in consolemode


The process totem is sleeping

after gui starting no error messages but also sleeping process

here are my .xsession-errors:

i use debian 3.1 stable

uname -a
Linux lametop 2.6.8-2-k7 #1 Thu May 19 18:03:29 JST 2005 i686 GNU/Linux


lspci | grep ati

AND THE ANSWER LIES IN THE CDROM
it seems totem needs some cdrom inside .. sounds like configuration shit

I have exactly the same problem:

libhal.c 2282 : Error sending msg: Service "org.freedesktop.Hal" does not exist

i m under kde 3.3.4 kernel 2.6.11.k7 and sarge 3.1 .

i use totem-xine 0.100-5.

Could someone help us?

i have installed hal (i forgot it!!) but it's the same proble: the error message diseapper but it's always impossible to read a dvd.

But i don't have any problems with ogle.

What file could i see to try to find any error message?

hal version:

Package: hal
State: installed
Automatically installed: no
Version: 0.4.7-3sarge1
