The problem after starting new kernel

I used the same method as the top thread in this forum. And I compiled the new kernel successfully.
But after the starting,I read the message scrolling on the screen.I found that
the new kernel cannot bring up my eth0,which is rtl-8029,and be compiled in the kernel, cannot mount my windows partitions, treat them as non-existing partitions,
cannot bring up some system services, such as inetd, gdm, klogd, alsa.
And when it brings up system services which I mentioned above,it freezes.

Still,I have included alsa, rtl drivers, windows partitions in my new kernel? Why?

Who can tell me how to configure ether, alsa ,partition and console?

Thanks

What does dmesg say when you e.g. try to bring up eth0? Perhaps there is something wrong with loading modules (have you compiled them as modules or into the kernel?).

Best,

Ott
