The GUI keeps asking me username and password.

Hi:

I have just installed Debian GNU/Linux 4.0. I press Ctrl-Alt-F1 to go to a text console. Now, if I press Alt-F7 within the next minute, no problem: I'm again in the GUI. But if I let pass more time, when I press Alt-F7 the GUI asks me the username and password. So, everytime I return to the GUI I must give it my username and password, which I find very uncomfortable. Is there any workaround?

Hi,

Although you go to the console, the screen-saver is still active for the GUI session and if I remember correctly the screen is locked when the screen-saver activates.

2 options to choose from:
- Set a longer time before the screen-saver activates,
- Disable locking the screen when the screen-saver activates.

System -> Preferences -> Screen-saver.
