Tasksel

Can/Will anyone tell me what packages are included with Desktop Environment Selected in TASKSEL for the network installation of ETCH?

411 listed. Wow!

You don't need to install the default desktop packages.
If you want a slim system, just install the base system.
Next just apt-get whatever you want.

Example for KDE:
#apt-get update
#apt-get install x-window-system kdm kde
(for GNOME, replace kdm and kde with gdm and gnome)

Next it will configure everything the same way as in a default installation.

Not sure how it works, but I think you'll get some info about that under 'Tasks' in aptitude, and maybe also /usr/share/doc/tasksel/README
