Tails Distro installation help

I've recently downloaded the ISO image for Tails 1.4.1 and verified the ISO image. I've burned the image at the lowest speed via Brasero onto a DVD+R disc. I've changed the boot order so that the DVD drive is first priority, and then restarted my computer. So the problem is that Tails sometimes boots, and mostly doesn't. If it does, it won't be read more than once. I've burned several discs, and it's very much like pot-luck.

I would consider myself a newbie and would very much appreciate your help, since I'm pulling my hair out.

Thanks.

Is there a thumbdrive or some device that you have plugged in sometimes?

Also, did your computer come with Windows 8 and thus Secure Boot?

I'm not really sure if you're asking if I had a thumbdrive, etc., plugged in at the time, or if I have it at all? Either way, no to the first, yes to the second.
I don't have Windows 8, I'm afraid. What are you thinking? Installing it onto a USB or SD card?

have you had issues with using this unknown BRAND of "DVD+R " disks

more of a old issue but still pops up
some BRANDS of dvd's and YOUR drive in the computer
--- MIGHT NOT MIX!!!!!!!!

in the past i have had boxes of 50 to 100 go in the TRASH because of a 90+ fail rate on burning

For ME ( my own experience ) the CHEEP Memorex work well and the bit more if not on sale TDK work well FOR ME ON MY HARDWARE

also

What Operating system are you using
seeing as you stated Brasero it is using the Gnome desktop

K3B might be a better option
also this was a PAST issue with Brasero - it was not working well with gnome3 - should have been fixed a while ago

I meant as in plugged in while the LiveDVD was booting, as that sometimes makes my system act up in live environments.

Windows 8 would have meant Secure Boot, which would have created issues. But after seeing John VV's post, DVD issues seem like the most likely culprit.

Thumbdrives could also be the solution to your problem - you can put ISO images on a thumb key rather than bothering with a DVD using the "dd" command or a certain tool if you want to go that way.

Tails isn't your regular Linux distro.
Check the docs https://tails.boum.org/doc/first_steps/index.en.html

The brand was Verbatim. I bought a pack of TDK rewritable discs on your recommendation, John VV. They solved the problem.

Thank you all ever so much for your help.

My operating system is Ubuntu, and I had used K3B, to no avail.
