sudo doesn't work

Can someone show me what I need to do so I can use the sudo command and have to type in the root password? I can't seem to get it right.

To be able to use "sudo", you need to edit the "/etc/sudoers" file as root, and add a line for your user and what you are allowed to do. Look on the sudoers manpage or the Internet for how to do that.

Also, when you use sudo, you enter YOUR password, not the root password (which is the whole point of sudo).

Be sure that when you edit the sudoers file that you use the visudo
command to view and make any changes.

Do not do make changes in a text editor like you would with other files.
