strange laptop problem with xorg, touchpad


I need to keep moving the pointer with touchpad or else system freezes.
xserver-xorg-input-synaptics (ver 1.6.2-2) is installed on debian_testing_x86.
laptop is fujitsu siemens amilo L7320.

please help.

Could be a problem with the video driver, although I suspect it's related to X or power management. Do you have any screensavers or screen locking enabled? It might be locking up when it tries to run the screensaver.

seems that touchpad is alps instead of synaptics. I've tried installing custom driver, but don't know how to select it in LXDE.
