I just switched over from slackware to debian sarge beta 3, I have a bunch of crap i dont want starting up when i boot, how can i disable stuff. its not in inetd.conf?
try going to /etc then type runlevel. if your run level is 5 then cd rc5.d if runlevel is 3 then cd rc3.d once in that dir you will notice each file is starts with a K or an S. This means kill or start. then they are followed by numbers. the hire number is for later startup or kill. these are symlinks so just mv S15apmd K15apmd to stop apmd from starting automaticaly. should help. hope it helps
