Debian (amd64) bullseye, with linux-image.

When custom kernel is successfully compiled from linux-source.

Read this post if you want to purge linux-image.

Why?
grub may be purged without warning. You have no bootloader,

Not really.

bullseye is debian's code name for version 11 which is the next release and is in the current state of testing. While it should be fairly stable stuff like this is bound to happen.

Yes, I totally 200% agree with you. No objection.

Reason.
I tried to reproduce the situation. All attempts have failed so far.

I, as one of Debian testing users, was able to cope with this.

Do not hit by covid-19.

I assume you have sent the debian developer's a bug report?

Hya,

No, I have not sent it yet.
Reason, I cannot reproduce the situation. Even, tracing package status is not an easy task, as many status changes happened on that day. I have no idea what to sent. It would be as enigmatic as it can be.
