statd failed!

Hi all,
I've had to make a change to lenny in my /network/interface for a fixed IP, works great. However I now get an error on boot which causes the system to hang for about 10 mins.
It's
starting NFS common activities
statd failed !

I'm guessing this is down to what I've done for the network IP, can anyone tell me how to get rid of this hang? I've google but can't find a real answer.
Thanks in advance!

k, reply back to us with the OS.

If u r using Red Hat Linux, enter into single user mode and issue the command:

chkconfig nfs off
chkconfig portmap off

try the above steps and let us know the results....
