Starting the xscreensaver daemon automatically in Etch

I installed the xscreensaver package for Etch, but in order to utilize the screensaver functionality, I must manually start the daemon each time. When I test the screensaver from the Desktop > Preferences menu in Gnome, I receive the following message:
Code:
The XScreenSaver daemon doesn't seem to be running on display ":0.0". Launch it now?
If I click on the OK button, it starts the daemon, but I would like to have this automatically enabled each time the computer is started. How do I perform this? Thanks.

Take a look here: http://www.jwz.org/xscreensaver/man1.html or type man xscreensaver in your terminal window.
