Start KDE Automatically

Okay. So I just installed Debian linux to my laptop and I downloaded and install the k desktop environment. But everytime I boot I have to run "xstart" and then run "kdestart". How do I make kde start automatically with the login screen and everything? I tried finding the .xinitrc file to edit, but it does not exist. What do I do?

As root apt-get install kdm this will have the KDE Display Manager starting everytime you boot up you can then login to KDE using it.
