Stalled install with sarge

I am trying to install sarge, but the installer doesn't seem to be able to access my hard drive. I can boot from a CD and start the installation process, but when the menu gets to "Partition a hard drive", I press "enter" and nothing happens... the menu is still displayed and there is no drive activity. I started ash and ran cfdisk, and I get this error: " FATAL ERROR: Cannot open disk drive". The drive is good - I can start and run the woody installation, but not sarge... anyone know why this is?

Sarge installer is still Beta3 so if your error is still not reported post a repport.

I don't know how to post a bug report, and the bug posting documentation I have read is far from clear to a new Linux user.

More than making a report, I would just like to get my system running with sarge. I think there is a way to do a manual installation, but I haven't found any docs or tutorials on this... can someone point me to a resource for this?

easiest thing is to install debian via knoppix. then upgrade or downgrade to sid/sarge (my opinion). you dont have to fool around with several scripts and setups and my ethernet card (via-rhine) was working...

or try to dist-upgrade from woody if you are able to install woody.
