stable to testing,.???

Hey guys,
As I'm trying to install my Sitecom WL-011 11Mbps Wireless PCMCIA card, I need a kernel above 2.4.18,

As I found a tutorial that exactly fit's my configuration, I wand to download and compile kernel-source-2.4.19, As that is a testing release while I'm now running a stable 2.4.17, Also my "apt-get install kernel-sources" command doesn't show my kernel-version 2.4.19, as the right links aren't in my apt/source.list.

Now are there mayor issues going from stable to testing,
Does anyone knows how long it takes before 2.4.19 will be a stable kernel?
And how do I install my 2.4.19 kernel (That is; how do I get the kernel-source to my /usr/src/ dir?)

Do you need to recompile the kernel or do you just need to upgrade to a more recent kernel. If you just need to get a more reccent kernel then you can do an apt-get to install the new kernel. That kernel will be in testing though. As for testing and stable, testing is pretty darned stable. But you can also keep a mixed system, using mostly stable packages and the testing versions of the ones you need. Search the debian site for how to keep what they call a "mixed system". As for the kernel image it depends on the type of procesor you have. here is a basic listing.

Just to give you some idea of what you can potentially do, here's a snapshot of my /etc/apt/sources.list file. I simply comment and uncomment things I want to try out. On many Debian mirror sites, there are directories for stable, testing, and unstable, also known at the present time as Woody, Sarge, and SID.
