Squirrelmail: Connection dropped by imap-server

Hello

I did a new install of testing on an old box lying around and I followed instructions from http://www.projektfarm.com/en/support/debian_setup/
The main purpose were to setup a mail server and a webserver.
I followed instructions for postfix/qpopper, Courier-IMAP/Courier-POP and apache as it is from the instructions. Everything works fine!!

I then installed squirrelmail to check my mail through the web. Whenever I try logging in I get -
ERROR:
ERROR : Connection dropped by imap-server.

I dont know why I am getting this. I had done the same setup sometime back and everything worked without any problem. googling the problem did not get me anywhere.. I know for a fact that everything else works fine.
One thing to note is that my previous install had squirrelmail ver 1.5 (which is not there anymore) and this install has ver 1.4.3a.

Any help is appreciated.

Can you connect to your imap server when you try imap it locally?
eg.
Code:

mutt -f imap://localhost/
? Does it pass with authentication plain or does it go to imap/ssl-mode?

I was having the same error. the solution i found was that for newly created users there is no automatic .maildir creation in users home which was done automatically when a user receives a mail. after sending a mail to that user maildir was created and squirrelmail could log in.
dunno if that's in your case.
