Squeeze install craziness
Hello,
In the last few weeks I've had weird issues with squeeze installs. This is the same computer I've had for the last 3 years and have never had a debian install issue before with it. Issues: 1. User accounts created at install don't make it to the finished product- have to reinstall them all again. This has happened with each of the installs I've done. 2. Some weird "Unicode 8" keyboard issue that another poster recently has commented about- system will not proceed past the info screen. I fixed this with the "nopat" option in expert install mode. 3. Gnome installs but upon login, complains that several services related to gnome did not start- this has happened now with 2 installs. 4. Install froze at package install towards the end (can't remember exact package number). At first I thought it may be the cd that I burned, but this happened with a fresh burn as well. Anyone else have squeeze install issues? -pb |
Squeeze is "testing", you might try a different nightly or weekly build of the installer. It's entirely possible that the installer is buggy. Did you check any of the errata for the build you used?

Thanks for the response. I haven't checked errata but I ran into the exact same issues almost 3 weeks ago. Tried to install again yesterday hoping issues would have been fixed. I've always used testing branch and have never had such persistent problems.

I've had problems with the installer for Testing recently myself, including submitting a bug report.
If you are still having problems i'd suggest downloading the Lenny netinstall disc,do a minimal install then upgrade from there. |
