Yeah, definitely an issue was with Sparky.

I suspect it was APTUS (the update/upgrade Mgr)that wasn't updating and upgrading properly.

And another thing I noticed that I didn't like. The src's list was fine till an upgrade was performed. After a fresh reboot an additional line of an unstable repo was added to the src's list. Generally unstable is for sid and developers not rolling releases.
