Unhappy Sound not working in Debian 8.4 with Xfce 4.10

I cannot get the sound working on my Debian 8.4 machine with Xfce 4.10; i.e. neither the system sounds nor video sounds in the browsers.

My Audio devices are the following:

Code:
00:01.1 Audio device: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Kaveri HDMI/DP Audio Controller
00:14.2 Audio device: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD] FCH Azalia Controller (rev 01)
Multimedia -> Audio Mixer displays HD-Audio Generic (Alsa mixer) twice with IEC958 checked in the Switches window.

Would appreciate your guidance how to get sound working.

I was having this issue earlier. What I did was install alsa-base, alsa-utils, pulseaudio, pulseaudio-module-x11, and pulseaudio-utils.

After those are installed, make sure you unmute the speakers (they're muted by default). To do this, launch alsamixer in the terminal. You should see a volume meter with the text 'MM' underneath it. That means the speakers are muted. Press the 'M' key, and the 'MM' text should change to '00', meaning the speakers are no longer muted.

The audio should work now.
