Sound device misconfigured: Not properly detected

Hi, I am using Debian Etch, Alsa, xmms (configured to use the libalsa plugin) and totem.
My soundcard is (as detected with lspci): 00:06.0 Multimedia audio controller: nVidia Corporation nForce3 250Gb AC'97 Audio Controller (rev a1)

And my problem is that I must run in every reboot alsaconf.

I tried updating my /etc/modutils/alsa-base and .asoundrc files as the Alsa Project documentation stated http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc...=intel8x0#modp
but (as one may guess) it didn't worked.

On the other hand, while I am turning down to zero the volume level (both in the Master and PCM channels), the card is not completely muted.

Partially fixed

Thanks, "alsactl store" solved the main problem with the reboots. But I still can't mute completely by turning the Main channel to zero.
