My Windows gaming rig crashed over the weekend, while I wait on a new machine I decided to rebuild my current rig into a Linux gaming box (AA and UT2004 run absolutely awesome btw!!!). I decided to give Debian a whirl. I am in love, I really like it.
My problem is though, I cannot use Team Speak and play a game at the same time, only one application has access to my sound device at a time. I believe TS uses /dev/dsp and OSS. I have tried all the fixes I have found. Unmute microphone, set capture, change device etc. However none of these work for me. If I use TS, then I can't hear the sound from my game and my microphone does not work.
I have read posts about how this is a known issue others suggested unmuting mic(it is), setting capture(tried this does not work), using a different device witin TS (tried this too), So I was wondering if anyone has gotten something like this to work? Sorry for such an unenlightened post, but I just have not come across something like this before and I am a little confused.
Etch
Gnome stock desktop
Stock kernel
Intel on board audio
Unfortunately no, I have tried that all ready but just in case I tried again, No luck.
From the searching I have done this seems to be unresolvable (well at least with UT2004 and TS), some have been able to get a particular game to work. To tell you the truth though, I can't even get the mic light to blink anymore on my TS client. :\
Not trying to beat a dead horse, but I have tried for hours+ now to get this to work. researched until my eyes bled and then some more. I have come to the conclusion that this is absolutely not going to happen. Sad though, because now I am actually playing GOOD games (SuperTux and TuxRacer are good, but who can beat owning a noob in UT2004) on my Linux box, but now I am held back because of a sound issue. Sad really :[ .
If anyone has any ideas what so ever please speak up. While I am here would anynone know of a TS client that does not use OSS? Is there an option I can pass to apt-get install that would have me compile it to use alsa instead?
Sorry for bringing the thread backup, but I am really really stuck.
