some problems with desktop

hi i have installed a copy of etch on my computer, i used to run sarge with no problems but when i built my new computer i could not get sarge installed so i decided to try my luck with etch. the installation went fine and it loaded up fine but whenever i try to move a window or scroll down in any program my cpus gettin overloaded and slows down my computer liek crazy. i don't understand it because everything loads up so fast but i can't move things aroudn on my desktop. has anyone experienced problems liek this before? if so any suggestions?

Sounds like it might be an Xorg problem ... Are you using the right driver for your video card. Check /etc/X11/xorg.conf
