I was trying to install vlc media player using 'aptitude'
When i installed it the output is

so while installing aptitude installed 35.1 MB of packages and while purging it removed 32.6 MB of packages.
I had heard that aptitude takes care of dependencies and automatically purges 'recommends' and 'depends' packages.
Also since i gave 'purge' command, it should remove all configuration files also. so how come there is difference between amount of space used while installing and the space used while purging. i have noticed something while looking at both the codes that the package 'ttf-freefont' was not purged though vlc 'depends' on it. aptitude should have purged it. but when i installed and purged 'vlc' again the above problem didnt repeat, maybe because 'ttf-freefont' package is already there
