smv_encode fails in Jessie

With Wheezy the following command worked to convert mp4 files to smv files.

$ smv_encode -g 160x128 -r -1 -q 84 she-and-him_black-hole.mp4 she-and-him_black-hole.smv

Since upgrading to Jessie, this no longer works. It doesn't work on new mp4 files and it doesn't work on mp4 files, like the one in the example, that were converted under Wheezy. I get the following message

Jun 12 11:09:59 antec gnome-session[1325]: (tracker-extract:1536): Tracker-WARNING **: Could not process media art for 'file:///home/richard/Videos/she-and-him_black-hole.smv', No error given

The system is AMD64 with the latest installation of smv-encode

Any ideas how to solve this? Thanks.

Are you sure it is installed, This is not something that is in the default packages, intended for Wheezy or Jessie, the only thing I am finding is for "arch linux"
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/smv_encode/
But that is for "arch linux", Where did you get, the smv-encode software ? My thoughts is it is not compatible with Jessie. And it also is not in a "default" installation of Wheezy, nor listed in any packages for wheezy or Jessie.
A "google search" shows some kind of SMV VIDEO CONVERTER , "smv-encode" also available for UBUNTU, but Debian is not ubuntu, I think you need to make sure if the "latest installation" really is intended for Debian Jessie, if that is what you are using.
Perhaps post the version , IE: smv-encode-0.59a-3-x86_64, or smv_encode 0.58-1 , what version ?

Thanks for your response. Yes, this package smv-encode_0.59-1_amd64.deb is not a Debian package. I found it through a link (now broken) in an Ubuntu forum, downloaded it and installed it in Wheezy back in November 2014. The install was without error. The package worked without fail for 20+ youtube videos for my Philips GoGear player. When I upgraded to Jessie, it quit working as described in the post. The following commands and results occurred today. I had performed also these actions before I posted my query:

root@antec:/home/richard# dpkg -l | grep smv
ii smv-encode .59-1 amd64 smv-encode-0.59

root@antec:/home/richard# dpkg --get-selections smv-encode
smv-encode install

root@antec:/home/richard/Downloads# dpkg -i smv-encode_0.59-1_amd64.deb
(Reading database ... 204241 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to unpack smv-encode_0.59-1_amd64.deb ...
Unpacking smv-encode (0.59-1) over (0.59-1) ...
Setting up smv-encode (0.59-1) ...
Processing triggers for man-db (2.7.0.2-5) ...

I get the same error following this 'install' when trying to convert a youtube video. I agree that smv-encode is probably not installed properly, missing some library that allows it to process cover art. I was hoping someone had solved this issue since I can't believe that I am the only person trying to create smv videos for a Philips player, while not having a copy of Windows available.

Thanks again.
