Remmina. It is the best rdesktop client for Linux out there.

I've done the upgrade to squeeze and now I can install Remmina, but Remmina is not what I want.
I need a very simple gui or a desktop script, asking only for the IP address or server name and open rdesktop session.

Simple.
Run this from terminal:

Code:
#!/bin/bash
echo "Server IP address:"
read address

# uncomment the following line if you use rdesktop (obsolete):

#rdesktop $address

# uncomment the following line if you use freerdp (newer, continues the work on rdesktop):

#xfreerdp $address
And you can create a launcher for it:
1. First save that script for example as rdplauncher

2. Then create another script that has:

Code:
#!/bin/bash
xfce4-terminal -x rdplauncher
make sure the paths/names are valid and use full paths. You can put this launcher on the task bar.

BTW Remmina has tons of features + it has quick connect option (and profiles) that can be used directly from a tray icon (that has to be activated in its preferences). The idea is that you can set many options (such as attaching to console, using ssh pass through etc) on the fly + it has awesome full screen/windowed mode selector.

Or, if you want a graphical pop-up with zenity (install the zenity package first):

Code:
#!/bin/bash

address=$(zenity --title="New RDP Connection" --entry --text="Enter RDP Server IP address:")

xfreerdp $address

Just a one thing, howto get rdp resolution automatically adapt to the desktop resolution?
The problem is, it opens to big rdp window on the small netbooks.

There you go (if you press enter at the resolution question, it will use the current resolution, but you will have the window manager decorations):

Code:
#!/bin/bash

desktop=`xrandr | grep "*" | cut -d " " -f4`
address=$(zenity --title="New RDP Connection" --entry --text="Enter RDP Server IP address:")
resolution=$(zenity --title="Resolution" --entry --text="Enter desired resolution (WxH, the x too), default is `echo $desktop`:")

if [ -z "$resolution" ];
	then
rdesktop $address -g$desktop
	else
rdesktop $address -g$resolution
fi
Edit:removed the -vrdp suffix.

You can hardcode it, the command line switch is (WidthxHeight - in pixels) , example for 800/600:

rdesktop 192.168.1.1 -g800x600

xfreerdp use it in the same way, default is 1024x768 i think.
