Simple Bootloader Question in Jessie

Greetings!

I am interested in changing a default kernel/boot parameter for a live image in Jessie.

Procedurally, with GRUB it has always been a simple matter of creating a custom grub config file and placing it on the /etc/default/ dir of the target distro. Straightforward and effective for both the live session and any resulting installation.

However, 8.8 live evidently does not use GRUB; so this particular approach is not readily applicable.

By what format and where can default params be similarly placed in Jessie?

Thanks --

If I understood you correctly, these should help:

Thanks, dejank, for the helpful information. Good reference materials.

Not to belabor the point, but does anyone know exactly what is the bootloader used in 8.8? Synaptic is not showing syslinux (or anything else I could think of) as being installed for the work. Frustrating for one who grew quite used to the ease of dealing with GRUB...

Bootloader of Debian Jessie is grub2. Syslinux is used just for live images, once you install, it will install grub2. To better understand why, look at wikipedia article, it is nice:
