silent debian

as I finally managed to install debian thanks to milindlokde's advice, I found out my newly installed o.s., was mute. As I tried to configure volume settings, it appears a message that says gstreamer wasn't installed, while it was. I tried to reinstall that, but nothing happens... Why is that happening? How can I fix this perilous matter?
Thanks in advance

Try installing alsa-utils, then run alsaconf (hopefully it knows your soundcard). Once it's done run alsamixer to change volume levels.

do you know what kind of sound card you have?
see if this outputs anything:

"lspci | grep Audio"
