Sid & Kernel 2.6.0 Won't Boot

I went ahead and installed the 2.6.0 kernel Image and everything seems to be setup good. Only problem I'm having at this point is when I boot, the system brings up Win XP, no boot menu or anything. It completely by pass kernel 2.6. and the old 2.4 kernel. I'm using Lilo as the bootloader which is loaded in the MBR. From what I can see everything in lilo is setup correctly.

Also when I installed the kernel image, it didn't give me the chance to configure the kernel before installing. Did I do something wrong?

Any ideas/suggestions on how to fix this?

Thnx.

If you installed an image, you don't configure the kernel, its precompiled. You would need to run lilo -v after editing it (if needed).

1. Make sure the /vmlinuz symlink is correct. If not, fix it.
2. Edit lilo.conf and run lilo -v

Thnx for the reply. Well I done all you said and nothing still worked. But it came to me to try the simple solution.

Boot XP install cd, went into the Recovery Console and did a fixboot c:\ command and reran lilo. All is well now.

I'm having troubles too, but I use GRUB. I select the 2.6.0 kernel and then the screen goes black and nothing happens.

Brakki: You should post more information and start a new thread. A copy of your grub.conf/menu.lst file, the output of `cat /etc/fstab`, and we will go from there. Sounds like you didn't compile in the Framebuffer section properly.
