Default is KDE but it's happening in other WMs as-well, my other Debian has never had KDE on it and is not doing this on same machine with same version Debian?
So the screen is blinking randomily ? How old is the computer? I have seen that happen with faulty video cards. I'm not saying that is the case but so lets see if we can find what it is, maybe a problem with the driver? How often you open and close the screen(maybe is the wires)?
Hi. It's definitely not the hardware, in another partition another Debian (identical 'uname -a' and source.list) only with a netinst and JWM added works fine.
The one with problems is installed from 3DVDs using KDE4 with a lot more software installed
(I use this one at home and the other on the go (both use sid, now, not recommended I know... ))
basically, the "Battery Monitor Settings" go (each time after 3-5 seconds) dim, then dimmer, then off? No mater how they are set. Attachment 14564 Plus, if I don't touch anything the delay times change and sometimes when it goes off if I brush the touchpad once everything stays fine? Until I need to use input devices again.
I'm thinking of reporting it as a bug? Searching the problem is giving me too many results in the wrong direction.

Do you have any other energy programs installed? What about the logs, anything there? Oh please post the output for xset q lets see what comes from there.
Have you tried to delete the config file for energy settings, or anything like that?
You always post good commands, thanks. So, now in between uninstall or reinstalls of power management apps and reboots I will post this:
Code:
$ xset q
Keyboard Control:

DPMS (Energy Star):
Standby: 2160 Suspend: 3240 Off: 4320
DPMS is Enabled
Monitor is On
I've also been skimming logs, my /var/log/messages is huge are there any good spots or logs to look at? I think after this reboot (hopefully not ) I will look for those configs...
Now in the screen shot it says off in 30 mins, 30mins*60secs=1800secs
xset says off in 4320 where is it getting this value from? So same is probably happen with dim.
Check how long time take to monitor goes off, mark it.
After uninstalling a package did you purge it too? If not do so also do this just in case:
I never put two and two together before but now realize another problem is related, if I mute the volume it stays but when I turn it down and the screen screen goes off (or just randomly as well) the volume keeps going back to full by itself???
kde-plasma-desktop 5:82 (unstable)
I did not have time yesterday but today am going through the logs more and think I will reboot to go to JWM on the other "unstable" so I don't have to deal with this!
