Sarge installation

I'm installing debian via network installation on a adsl pppoe connection. Encounter few problems.

1) Theres one time where I install the base system half way, it prompt me whether I want to use kernel 2.4.x or 2.6.x. But now whenever I tried to install again, it did not prompt me anymore.

2) Prior to network downloading of files, I execute the shell to configure using pppoeconf. pppoeconf detected my network card but it did not recognise any Access Concentrator. (I support it is my modem?)
However, it did successfully recognise my access concentrator and could get my connection up before. But now it can't seems to detect.

First question, which kernel is it installing now? The 2.4 or the 2.6 kernel?

Second, have you changed your netinst image since before?

1st) 2.4 kernel. I was told by the folks in #debian at freenode that I can enter linux26 at boot prompt to automatically install 2.6 kernel. But what I'm puzzling is how did that prompt come out? :D

2nd) Nope.
