You need to start reading up on Samba and the various progs available for it. If your running X, look up the smb4k package. Worked well for me, particularly for mounting shares and using communal printers, it has a nice simple interface. (NB I have never tried allowing windows users to put files on my comp but I am sure it can be done and with ease) Good Luck.

If you are running gnome, simply look under PLACES > NETWORK to use the network. (all I do)
You need to create a share for others to use on your computer.

Check with your supervisor and network admin to see if it is ok to do this. Is installing Debian and configuring Samba part of your job?
