running apt-get in cron

In webmin I setup a cron job as this:

Execute as: root
Command: apt-get update; apt-get upgrade; apt-get dist-upgrade;

and then scheduled it to run every night at midnight....

Will this update, upgrade, and upgrade my distro automatically for me?

change that to 'apt-get update; apt-get upgrade -y --force-yes; apt-get dist-upgrade -y --force-yes;' but yes, that looks like it'll do the trick.

the -y answers yes to the are you sure you want to install this prompts. the man says that --force-yes can be dangerous, so read the manual before you throw that in ('man apt-get').

if your going to be using "apt-get dist-upgrade" then why bother with "apt-get upgrade"? according to the man page:
dist-upgrade: in addition to performing the function of upgrade, also intelligently handles changing dependencies with new versions of packages
looks like you can trim that down a little bit (not that it really matters....)

also, you might want to look into "cron-apt" -> "apt-cache show cron-apt"
