You can try alien -i lyx-1.3.3.rpm to convert and install. BTW this package is available in Debian:
Code:
[08:04 AM Mon Nov 17: stephen @ ~]
>$ apt-cache policy lyx
lyx:
Installed: (none)
Candidate: 1.3.1-5
Version Table:
1.3.2-1 0
600 http://ftp.de.debian.org unstable/main Packages
1.3.1-5 0
990 http://ftp.de.debian.org testing/main Packages
1.1.6fix4-2 0
500 http://ftp.de.debian.org stable/contrib Packages
You can get in in Knoppix by using apt-get -s install lyx/unstable if everything looks good then remove the -s and repeat to actually install.
thank you Happy tux,
but the problem is not lyx or another software,
the problem is how to install with rpm on debian , you know you can find an rpm package and not a debian one.

Never ever (try to) install rpms with rpm on a debian based system!!!!!!!!
the software will not appear as installed, you could brake packages, u could make your system unbootable(ok, seldom), the sky could break in half and lots of Mr. Smith-es will take you and your system into the matrix :D
Ok, I went too far, but listen the men: use alien. he knows what it's doing, and does it very well.
If you want to change the package a little (a simlink from /usr/bin/yourapp to /opt/yourapp/bin/yourapp) you can use the -g or the -s options, but _please_ use alien.
