Ah, the countdown? Just until I turn 21. Sorry, it was a random thought in response to your post.

Unhappy I have a similar problem

I'm a perfect newbie using a Gentoo distribution. So I'm trying to change my password.
As I try:

Code:

ded@sagitta ded $ passwd
passwd: Authentication token manipulation error
ded@sagitta ded $ kpasswd
kpasswd: No credentials cache found getting principal from ccache
Then I also tried:

Code:

ded@sagitta ded $ kpasswd ded
Password for ded@LCC.UFMG.BR:
kpasswd: Preauthentication failed getting initial ticket
What can I do? Which kind of error is this? I checked the auth.log and also /etc/pam.d/system-auth and shadow, but didn't anything not normal.

I don't know what taht error means, try searching for it on google

But, you say that your new to gentoo (so am I), are you running a fresh install, or did you just change your distribution?
Also, what have you been doing with your system, done any upgrades, or the like?
Sorry I can't help more ...

Guidance

I heard something about this problem may consist in the fact that the server that I'm trying to change my password from is not allowed to do this. So, what should I do if the problem is really that?
