Replacing kernel in sarge netboot installer

Hi

I am pxe-booting network installations of sarge, but have new hardware (more precisely nForce4 based), and now i have troubles. The installer doesn't know the hd-controller or the nic.

So i need to create a netinst image, that has a new (backported or homerolled) kernel and a few new modules in it.

Anyone know of resources that describe replacement of kernel etc. in an installer? I have seen a lot, but they center on cd-installers or are complete rebuilds. I look for a shortcut around rebuilding the installer from scratch.

/Andy

http://kmuto.jp/debian/d-i/ has net installer images with 2.6.16 kernels.
