Removing/handling sit0 interface?
I'm a newb.
I have installed Knemo so that I can see the network connection. There are 2 icons, one for sit0, which googling tells me is something to do with ipv6 tunneling. All I want is to be able to enable or disable the connection to my router and I am clueless as to why there should be another "interface" other than my ethernet card, or how to control/disable/remove it. As far as I know, I don't want either ipv6 or sit0. I've googled but I don't really understand it. Can somebody fill me in on how to deal with this mystery interface which does something which is also a mystery to me and how to just make it go away if it is indeed something I don't need? Thanks. |
As far as I understand it sit0 is a virtual interface that handles IPv6 traffic - ie. it is a IPv6-in-IPv4 tunnel - until they make v6-only routing you will need it to see IPv6 traffic - so in other words just leave it, it is not hurting anything - you need it -
I am no expert in TCP/IP so please anyone correct me if I am wrong - this is just how I understand it - Regards |
Thanks. I've looked a bit further. Checking the box "hide icon when not existing" in the Knemo settings hides the monitor icon for sit0 - so presumably it doesn't exist....
