removing ethernet from startup

I am currently using Sarge 3.1, and I was wondering if anybody could help me with a little problem I have. I want to change the default settings so that instead of trying to connect through eth0 it will try eth1, so I would really appreciate it if somebody could please tell me the location of the file to edit. Thanks!

You have to change the settings in: /etc/network/interfaces

I'm not sure, I haven't got Debian installed at the moment, so please forgive me for being a balloon that floated by, but I think the file to edit is /etc/network/interfaces
