Reinstalling X

Hi,

When I was installing debian on my system some of the packages could not be copied from my installation DVD (really scratched)! They were some font packages and also some GL and Xorg packages.

So I'm wondering is there an easy way I can reinstall X and all it's dependencies using apt-get or dselect. I'm unfamiliar with both so any advice would be appreciated

Otherwise I will just burn the disk again and re-install.

Paddy

apt-get install xserver-xorg. You may want to apt-get install gnome-desktop-environment or kasteroids, since by installing their dependencies you may get a more 'complete' installation of X (for some suitable definition of 'complete').

You may want to run apt-config first to set up a list of repositories. See also http://jonaskoelker.homeunix.org/~jo...r/sources.list for an example of the /etc/apt/sources.list file (which should also work for you).

I don't know much about GL; perhaps using 'apt-cache search GL' or google can provide useful.

Just add some repositories and apt-get update && apt-get -f install
