Try looking at this
page on making a custom package ignoring the pbuilder stuff as it will not be necessary for your purposes once done disabling the not needed support use
dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot -uc -us to build the package.
Edit: Just re-read the page you will want to do
apt-get build-dep package_name before using the build package command I mention that should be used in the directory that gets created when the source is downloaded then extracted.
