When I try to log out from the command prompt it just flashes and returns me to the command prompt?

What are you typing in?

'exit' or ctrl + d key combination work here.

I fogured out part of the problem. When you start pi it takes to "console" which is /dev/tty1. For some reason the powers that be don't want a password for console?

When you made your first post, you didn't state this was a pi, so its slack arm? It would help a lot to think about your post, we are not mind readers, so you have to supply some information on your problem, system type, and a good description of the problem you are experiencing.

Unfortunately, I have no experience with arm versions of Slack, or any other arm based system.

I hope some one with this experience will help you out.
