ram - debian install


Hi I want to try an installation of minimal debian sistem on a pc with 16 mb of ram but when I try to install , it doesn't work because I need almost 22 mb of ram .... It's normal ?
I think that 16 are enought , aren't them ?

It's not normal, as it should be possible to even run X on 16 Mb. The Debian base system should install on 4 Mb systems. What errors did you get?

I can't speak out of experience, I didn't use a computer when 16 Mb was top of the line...

I did, when 8Mb was the ultimately powerful amount of ram you could get (and especially afford).
Trying on 16 Mb, he'll spend his life waiting from apps top open. Why not choosing VectorLinux ?
Very fast, requires very little ram...

I install with boot floppy and after some passage .... the red screen appears that say that are required almost 22 mb of ram ....?
Which version of Vector Linux ?
