Questions on Mepis Linux

I don't want to jump into pure Debian just yet, but I've heard that Mepis Linux is a pretty good linux based on Debian.

One question, what exactly is Mepis based on? Debian Woody / Sarge or SID?

The site is www.mepis.org

sarge/sid/warren's approved homebrew

oh, I know about the site, all right. But thanks.

Thanks for the information. I see what you're saying now.

I'm starting to be more proficient in Mandrake Linux. If I do make a test switch, I hope I won't get into too much trouble.

Once again, thanks.

Why don't you download the image and just play with it as a live cd for a bit. It'll be a bit slower than a HD install, but at least you'll find out how Warren made it work. You can save your settings as a file on the HD somewhere so you can boot without setting things up every time from scratch. ;)

Mepis is great in my opinion. Still have to learn the coding of Debian but hey it beats the heck out of redhat 9.3 and my earlier version of SuSe.
