Question about RPM

I've installed my knopix in my hard drive, so now it's like a devian. But knoppix don't reconize my ehternet card, becose comes form a nforce 2.

I want to install the drivers first a RPM, but in the instalation instructions it's said: "If you are using a different version of Red Hat or Mandrake, a modified kernel, or a different rpm-based distribution, you should build an RPM appropriate for your system."
How do I do it?

I've looked a bit more, and I saw something of using alien... I use it and I create a new file. i said I wanted to install it, but it didn't do anything...

Can someone help me... I new on this.

Thanks

If you have already converted the rpm to a deb using alien, and installed the deb using dpkg -i (packagename) then providing you installed the right package for your kernel and your ethernet adapter...then the modules should probably be available for you to either install using modconf or with insmod. If you have problems with either of those commands, I encourage you to use the manpage. i.e. 'man (command)'

Good Luck...
