proftpd held back for months, why?

Hey, I'm running a remote Debian 'testing' server that i 'apt-get update' regularly. for a few months now, proftpd has been "held back". i've tried a 'dist-upgrade' option, tried switching the apt-get source server, still nothing... my proftpd is currently version 1.2.10, i would like to get up to the newer builds of 1.3 - have they just not been released for Debian 'testing' yet? Why would it have come through under 'update' but when i do 'apt-get upgrade' or 'dist-upgrade' it is still held back? server has been restarted, proftpd has been manually shut down and i've tried it... don't know what's up.

any suggestions? anybody getting the same thing???

"Held back" doesn't mean you can't get it, just that there are some special circumstances that cause apt-get to want to handle it separately. Try apt-get install proftpd

doh! i did that a while ago but it didn't do anything. now it wants to remove proftpd-common, upgrade proftpd, and recommends the docs. so i went ahead and did that and it appears to be upgraded. thanks for the quick answer to my boneheaded query!!
