Processor Architecture

I've got an Athlon XP 3200+ (not 64). I know Debian works with a 386 architecture, but that's horribly unoptimized, and I just wanted to make sure that a 686 kernel architecture would work for my processor. Thanks in advance.

For the Athlon XP, and early Semprons and Durons, you'll want to choose a kernel for the k7 architecture, e.g. 2.6.8-1-k7. i686 kernels should work but k7s are optimised for this processor.

Awesome, thanks for that.
