Problems Installing Mysql-server

Hey Guys
Iam facing a problem while setting up a new LAMP server based on Sarge.
Ive done it a dozen times, this is the first time this happens to me. After apt-get install the server tries to stop the mysqld server and just stops there, I need to ctrl-c it to the background and then kill the apt-get process to gain access to apt-get again. Ive tried dselect and dpkg --purge but that did not help. The log files did not yield anything about the mysql issue.

Suggested packages:
tinyca
The following NEW packages will be installed:
mysql-server mysql-server-5.0
0 upgraded, 2 newly installed, 0 to remove and 89 not upgraded.
Need to get 47.1kB/25.4MB of archives.
After unpacking 69.0MB of additional disk space will be used.

Why are there 89 packages not being updated? I'm 99% certain this is a related issue. Try running "apt-get dist-upgrade" to upgrade everything, then try installing myqsl.

In my opinion the problem is while stopping mysql service. I would try to stop it manually (killing the process if there are problems on it), and retry...

That was my initial thought, but why would apt try to stop the mysql service if its not installed yet? Thats what makes me think its apt messing up.
