Question Problems after an upgrade to Sarge

A while back I upgraded from Woody to Sarge. Since then I have run into several problems. I have dist-upgraded today again.
I should also mention that I am using kernel 2.6.8-1.

- Since the Sarge upgrade I have not been able to run gimp anymore. The error I receive is:
Code:
gimp: relocation error: /usr/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0: undefined symbol: g_type_class_add_private
- I usually use KDE, but wanted to try XFCE. I have not been able to use XFCE because I get a similar error message as with gimp. Anybody else has had the same problem?

- Since the upgrade of the kernel I am not able to use the click function on the mouse touchpad. I have to use the buttons in order to click. This wasn't a problem with 2.4.27. I did add the modules mentioned in the kernel-upgrade-howto that is available on this site.

- Since the upgrade of the kernel, I have had several "automatic" reboots of the system.

Any clues?

Many Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I am by no mean an expert to this. It seems to me that there are some library version conflict between gimp and libgtk. Have you tried to remove/reinstall or upgrade these packages? It solved once a similar problem for me.

Best,
Ott

Yes, you are right about the cause of the problem. And I have updated my libraries several times, but it didn't solve the problem. It could be that I need to downgrade the Gtk stuff, but that would then brake other dependencies.
