Looks like it's not seeing the video card. According to the configuration you are using an Nvidia card but its loading the generic driver. Do dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86 and when you get to the graphics card configuration set it to nv (select nvidia). You can install the nvidia drivers later. Before doing so make sure you get the kernel-source for your running kernel.

I don't think that the XF86 generic nvidia drivers are going to support this card. You will have to install the nvidia drivers. You must install the kernel-headers and kernel-source for your running kernel with apt-get. To establish which kernel do as root uname -r and then apt-get install these files. You will have to go to nvidia and download their driver and follow the instructions for the installation.

as root (of course)
uname -r
2.2.20-idepci

apt-get install 2.2.20-idepci
Readeing package list... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
0 package upgrade, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.

//then i download the nvidia driver that support mi graphic card chip wich is a nVidiaGeForce MX4000. The driver is NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-7667-pkg1.run

then ive read the instructions and run the aplication as root with

sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-7667-pkg1.run

and a base on ncruses install menu appears with the following message error

nvidia driver for Linux/unix

ERROR: Unable to find the module utility 'insmod'; please make sure you have the package 'module-init-tools' installed. If you do have module-init-tools insatlled, then please check that 'insmod' is in your path.

i dont have module-init-tools i have this tools but the ones that comes with debian woody by defaul wich are old and not for this case the modutils(something like that), so ive download from the site module-init-tools_3.2-pre1-2_i386.deb and installed them

dpkg -i module-init-tools_3.2-pre1-2_i386.deb
(Reading Database ... 108998 files and directories currently installed.)
Unpacking module-init-tools (from module-init-tools_3.2-pre1-2_i386.deb) ...
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of module-init-tools:
moudle-init-tools depends on libc6 (>= 2.3.2.ds1-4); however:
Version of libc6 on system is 2.2.5-11.5.
dpkg: error processing module-init-tools (--install):
dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
Errors where encountred while processing:
moudle-init-tools

so ...=( i download libc6_2.3.2.ds1-22_i386.deb that seems to be the problem then...

dpkg -i libc6_2.3.2.ds1-22_i386.deb
same error but this depends on libnss-db <= 2.2-6.1.1 i check the dependency of this file and it depends too on another file!!!!! endeless......=(

what can i do!? keep downloading .deb and keep getting this dependency problems...
ive too try to upgrade the kernel by dowloading 2.6.11 but still need module-init-tools wich is my main problem because i can't install them.....WHAT EM I DOING WRONG!?

It seems you installed Woody with the kernel 2.2, download the Sarge net-installer, and choose the 2.6 one if that's what you want.

I suspect that you are mixing the Debian stable versions. You have installed Woody with the very old default kernel. You probably have not amended your /etc/apt/sources.list to point to Woody and not stable. You have now installed applications for Sarge which are not compatible with Woody. You have a few options. You can do a dist-upgrade (follow the guide on upgrading Woody to Sarge as their are a few musts) or as suggested get the net-installer for Sarge and do a new install using the 2.6 kernel. You must again get the headers and source to install the Nvidia driver. Most likely the card will be happy with the generic nvidia driver as Sarge has a newer version of XFree86.

I agree; it seems so.

That's for sure. And if that is the case, chances are you will have more issues coming soon....with sound, for instance...
I remember kernel 2.2.20-ide-pci was not really an up-to-date one with sound board and sound drivers.....you had to patch
it via modconf....

Maybe this would be what I try.....
